Delay on sugar reform welcomed

A European Commission decision to delay the reform of the EU sugar regime has been welcomed by Leinster MEP Avril Doyle.

The commission has decided on major eform for the cotton, tobacco and olive oil sectors but has postponed any such moves for the sugar sector.

Mrs Doyle said the commission was right to postpone the reform as time was needed to consult fully with all the interests and the European Parliament.
