Ahern defends food marketing idea

BIM has an enviable record in the marketing and promotion of Irish seafood, said Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources Dermot Ahern.

However, it would be unwise to rule out moves which could improve the State’s performance in the interests of underpinning and expanding jobs for Irish seafood producers and processors,

The response came to Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris in a written reply to a Dáil question on why it had been proposed to merge the marketing department of BIM with An Bord Bia.
