BAD weather has delayed tillage operations this spring with Teagasc advisers reporting delays for most crops last week.

Up to 10% of barley in eastern counties and 75% in the northwest was still to be planted.

All sugar beet sowing was behind schedule this year, with less than 50% completed nationally, and little or no beet emerged. Between 10 and 30% of maize was sown.
