‘Four sheep farmers quitting daily’

Dublin: Four sheep farmers are leaving the business every day, according to Fine Gael agriculture and food spokesperson Denis Naughten.

“Unless action is taken to support the farm gate price of lamb, especially in light of the impact of the single farm payment, we will see a further exodus from the industry,” he warned.

He urged Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan in the Dail to facilitate the live export of lambs from Ireland to Britain and France.
