Inchydoney: Forestry was described as a valid and viable use of agricultural land by Minister Joe Walsh at the EU forest directors conference in Inchydoney in West Cork.

Mr Walsh said the EU decision to allow credit to be taken for forest land planted or to be planted in deciding the single payments entitlement is a major boost for the sector, particularly in Ireland.

It allows farmers and landowners to make logical decisions regarding the use of their land.
