New season lamb back on the menu

THE first of this year’s new season lamb will be available in supermarkets and butcher shops this week, the IFA has announced.

Sheep Committee chairman Henry Burns said Easter marks the start of new season lamb and the full switch over from hoggets will take place over the next two weeks.

“Irish spring lamb is an excellent quality meat being fully traceable and naturally produced. Lamb has a very positive image with consumers as a top-quality, environmentally friendly meat,” he said.
