New rules require manure storage for up to 26 weeks

THE necessary manure storage period on smaller pig farms, smaller poultry farms, and farms with cattle, is 16 weeks in Carlow, Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
New rules require manure storage for up to 26 weeks

Application of chemical fertiliser to land is prohibited from September 15 to January 12; organic fertiliser other than farmyard manure is prohibited from October 15 to January 12; farmyard manure is prohibited from November 1 to January 12.

The storage period is 18 weeks in Clare, Galway, Kerry, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath. Chemical fertiliser is prohibited from September 15 to January 12; organic fertiliser other than farmyard manure is prohibited from October 15 to January 15; farmyard manure is prohibited from November 1 to January 15.
