‘Cattle price cuts will hurt grass’

IFA National Livestock Committee Chairman John Bryan said this week the cattle price cuts of 25c/kg (10p/lb) over the last two weeks at the factories will wipe out any profit for farmers from grass this season.

He said these severe price cuts are unprecedented so early in the year.

The IFA livestock leader warned factories the cuts could have serious consequences for production trends as the new decoupling era nears.
