Vigilance on food safety urged in new campaign

THE country’s 130,000 farmers as well as all animal feed suppliers and 41,000 food premises are being urged under a new national initiative to insist on food safety requirements being in place before they agree to purchase any products from a supplier.
Vigilance on food safety urged in new campaign

Launching the initiative in Dublin, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) warned that brand names and reputations, which take time and resources to build, could be destroyed overnight by a shoddy supplier, and that bargains could prove very expensive in the long term.

The FSAI wants all units of the food chain throughout the country to proactively demand and receive assurance of high standards and adherence to food safety regulations from their suppliers.
