Mis-spent EU farm money to be reclaimed

Brussels: A total of €277.25 million of EU farm money mis-spent by member states is to be claimed back, following a decision yesterday by the European Commission.

Ireland is not among the 10 member states from whom money will be recovered as a result of inadequate control procedures or non-compliance with EU rules.

Member states are responsible for virtually all expenditure under the Common Agricultural Policy and the Commission must ensure they have made correct use of funds.
