IMPROVED weather in recent weeks has increased the risk of milk production exceeding national quota for the year to April 1.

There has been a sharp increase in intake by processors, with some seeing an increase of up to 20% in deliveries, since the beginning of February, compared to the same period in 2002.

As spring calving herds come into production, the deficit in quota at the end of the calendar year is being eroded.
