IFA says Department’s reactor guideline prices off by up to 100%

CULL cows are selling in marts for more than twice the guideline prices issued by the Department of Agriculture for breeding animals removed under the disease eradication schemes, according to IFA Animal Health Chairman Michael Flynn.

He said prices being offered to farmers for suckler cows by some valuers operating the On Farm Market Valuation System do not reflect current market values.

Some valuers were relying solely on incorrect guideline prices issued by the Department, said Mr O’Flynn.
