Consumers keep faith in chicken and eggs despite disease fears

STRONG UK sales of chicken and eggs - despite the recent case of bird flu in Scotland - have eased worries over the disease.

Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan this week called on the Irish public not to over-react.

But the industry here has been reassured by the steady trend in poultry meat and egg sales in the big UK supermarkets.
