ENHANCED unity and more focused action among rural groups is being sought by lobby group Irish Rural Link.

IRL said the call is aimed at ensuring that rural Ireland achieves the much-needed investment and attention that will ensure balanced regional development as well as achieving the "rural dream" for rural communities.

Chief executive Séamus Boland called for rural groups to unify and create a vision of rural Ireland that they can not only be proud of but will be a positive legacy that can be handed on to generations to come.
