Quality stores still selling well

Marts: Prices for the plainer cattle are a little easier this week in the marts, but anything with a bit of quality is still selling well.
Quality stores still selling well

Numbers on offer at the sales continue to drop off and there are fewer of the top quality cattle appearing in the sales rings consistent with the seasonal pattern.

There is still very good demand for the good double punched cattle which continue to make up to €300 over €/kg for the tops. They made up to €285 over at Athenry yesterday. Up to €160 over was paid at Kanturk and €280 over was paid at Fermoy for weights in the 600kg range, while €150 over was paid at Blessington for punched out in the 400kg range.
