Improving pedigree sheep breeds

A programme to improve pedigree sheep breeds through growth rate and carcass quality has been announced by Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan.

She said in common with producers, she is acutely aware of the importance of the need to keep quality at the top of the agenda.

“There is universal acceptance that food producers must be quality driven and focused on customer requirements in order to succeed in the current commercial environment,” she said.
