Taoiseach ‘right’ in his CAP stance

Kilkenny: IFA president John Dillon yesterday described the Taoiseach’s defence of the Common Agricultural Policy as a strong rebuttal of Britain’s attack on Europe’s farm and rural policies.

“The Taoiseach is absolutely right to hold Tony Blair to the letter of the deal on the CAP budget he signed up to with the other EU heads of Government on October 2002,” he said.

Mr Dillon recalled he had written to Mr Blair and met with the British Ambassador in Dublin to protest at Britain’s attempts to break their commitments on CAP funding to 2013.
