EU in organic farming action

The European Commission has boosted organic farming with a new action plan to step up information for consumers, strengthen the EU’s control systems and improve research.

The list of 21 policy measures to be implemented includes streamlining public support via rural development, and improving production standards.

The action plan, responding to a rapid increase in the number of farmers producing organically, and based on extensive consultations, will be presented at the next Agriculture Council meeting.
