February dry with little rainfall during month

FEBRUARY rainfall was below normal almost everywhere, and it was a particularly dry month in the south.

The Cork Airport weather station recorded only a quarter of its normal rainfall, and Clones and Malin Head recorded their driest February since 1993.

It was the sunniest February since 1996 at Malin Head, but the dullest for seven or eight years at some other stations.
