Strong demand for lamb at Easter

Demand for lamb for the Easter trade has boosted prices for both Spring lamb and hoggets for the second time this week with further improvements in the prices on offer for supplies yesterday.
Strong demand for lamb at Easter

Factories were offering up to 540 cents/kg (193p/lb) for Spring lamb yesterday - and improvement of up to 8 cents/kg (3p/lb) on prices offered earlier in the week - and local butchers were reported to be paying up to 560 cents/kg (200p/lb) to get supplies.

Spring lamb supplies for the festive season are scarce, with the poor grass growing season in most parts of the country for the year to date, and some later lambing on farms this year, effecting the output.
