Coughlan announces seed scheme

A grant aid programme for the development of the seed potato sector was announced yesterday by Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan.

The scheme which comes under the National Development Plan, will fund capital investment projects for specialised seed production in 2005/2006. A grant package of 35% applies.

Minister Coughlan said the main objective is to improve the marketing infrastructure of the sector by providing grant assistance to producers towards equipment and facilities for production, storage and marketing.
