Farmers adaptable to radical change in recent years

THE message to farmers from national leaders over recent weeks has been one of the necessity for change to meet the challenges of the future.

It would be very difficult to find an industry which has undergone more change than farming over the past 20 years.

Few outside of farming realise just how much change farming has had to cope with in two decades. By and large most farmers have coped with the avalanche of new controls on their activities, new and higher quality standards, a mountain of compliance requirements, which has been imposed, many of which have yet to deliver one cent of return in a tangible form in farmers incomes.
