Beet growers blamed for campaign failure
A former Food Minister, Ned O’Keeffe, TD, made the claim when he spoke at the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Mallow.
“I have to say that if the farmers of Munster and the farmers of Leinster got their act together we would have a sugar beet industry in 2006. But the difficulties between the two areas created a problem in the industry for Greencore,” he said.
