VOTERS will tomorrow bring to an end “a beauty contest between candidates, with little debate of the workings of the European Parliament, the impact it has on our lives, the changes we can make if elected as MEPs, and the realistic situation of lesser Irish representation at parliament level”.

At political party level, the campaign has also been half-hearted in comparison to general elections, in which parties have to set out clear manifestos, which frequently reveal controversial farm and food plans.
