Call for immediate end to red tape
“Many farmers believe that regulation and red tape from the Department has become excessively burdensome and is now a major cost factor on the competitiveness of Irish agriculture.”
This is best exemplified by inaction at Government and EU levels on the issue of Brazilian beef imports. There is a much regulated system for Irish farmers producing beef for EU consumers, but there is a very lax regime for Brazilians producing beef for the same market.
