EU pigmeat market on the rebound

PIG prices gained 4 cent per kg this week, according to IFA, at 134 to 138 cent/kg, and 134 to 140 cent/kg in Northern Ireland.

Prices improved across the EU by 4 to 8 cent/kg, due to falling supply and strong demand, particularly in Germany, where the price has gone to 146 cent.

In Ireland, IFA predicts further increases this week on last Tuesday’s 134 to 137 cent/kg net quoted by export plants in the south (welfare bonus adds 6c on average).
