MORE THAN 80% of the general public believes that Government intervention is required to solve countryside access issues, according to a study published yesterday.

The findings also revealed that nine out of 10 people surveyed believed they should be permitted access to the countryside, but only where the interests of farmers are protected.

An overwhelming majority of those questioned for the three-month countrywide study, commissioned by Agri Aware considered that the concerns of farmers are legitimate.
