Hostel good way to supplement income on small farm holding

IF diversification is the key to survival, this 18-acre farm on west Cork’s Beara Peninsula is a good example of income augmentation.

The traditional, two-storey farmhouse has been hugely extended to provide hostel accommodation, and it now has eight or nine bedrooms and a number of living rooms.

The land has not been farmed for some time, says Maria Harrington of Key Properties,. who suggests it would suit an organic enterprise or REPS.
