€3.44m puts farmers at top of tax evasion list

MORE farmers are being caught for tax evasion than any other occupational group, followed by builders, publicans and company directors, the latest list of tax evaders published by the Revenue Commissioners reveal.

In the three-month period from July 1 to the end of September this year 41 farmers made settlements with the Revenue Commissioners.

This resulted in a total of €3.44m in unpaid taxes, penalties and interest for the Exchequer.
