Horticultural industry boom

THE horticulture industry is worth nearly €300 million and growing rapidly, it was revealed yesterday.

Minister of State Brendan Smith said there had been some exceptional sectoral achievements over the past five years.

Output of fruit has risen to over €30m and field vegetable output has increased by 20% to €57m.
