Those of us lucky enough to speak the two official languages are hardened to the mistakes of our bilingual signage.
The Sunday Times rich list shows that the fortunes of Ireland’s 250 wealthiest people have risen by 12%, to €57bn, over the past year. Their combined wealth is equivalent to 35% of the country’s GDP. This is a sickening statistic.
Having journeyed with people who are homeless or in need since 1969, I am appalled that despite being alerted to the increase in numbers of people accessing services such as the Capuchin Day Centre, the current housing crisis has been allowed to develop and that it took until two days before an election before it reached the agenda of the Oireachtas.
Since the US government has charged five Chinese military officials with cyber-spying, perhaps the European Court of Justice will now instigate proceedings against the Americans for similar activities in Europe.

Given the very favourable and fortunate position for energy creation in which Ireland finds itself the Government’s lack of vision in not formulating a grand plan for energy creation, both for domestic and export use, will have grave consequences for the future wellbeing of the citizens of our nation.
A house like, anything else, has a definite value. With a house, however, location is the real determining factor.
In a time when public services are struggling to cope with cutbacks, I would like to share my recent positive experiences of the people working in some of those services.
