Third-level drop-out rate: Alarm sounded

Garda numbers still falling: Resources are the central issue

Even-handed response to abuse: Consistent standards must apply
Even-handed response to abuse: Consistent standards must apply

Time to face up to worst case scenario - General election 2016

A good reason to expand SCC - Gangland threat to journalists
A good reason to expand SCC - Gangland threat to journalists

GERRY ADAMS’ restatement of Sinn Féin policy earlier this week, that his party would close the Special Criminal Court, seemed, at the time, predictably self-serving and ill-judged.

Self-destructive - Luas pay dispute
Self-destructive - Luas pay dispute
ANY trade union that goes to an employer and with a straight face asks for a pay rise of 53%, albeit over five years, is plain daft and should not be disappointed when its advances are rejected out of hand.

Put Civil War finally to bed with gesture - General election 2016
Put Civil War finally to bed with gesture - General election 2016

THERE is a poignant scene in Michael Collins, the 1996 Neil Jordan film, that shows Collins and Éamon de Valera standing side by side outside the GPO in Dublin in 1916 as they face defeat by the British army.
