AMERICA’S Vice President Joe Biden has begun a five-day visit to Ireland during which he will, with family members, mark his Irish ancestry and honour the beliefs of “the Irish-American experience, the shared heritage of the two nations, and the values of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness”.

IT is, of course, welcome news that the Government expects to have around €1bn to support a mix of increased spending and tax cuts in October’s budget. The figure is double the €500m anticipated and reflects a strengthening economy.
