Mechanical keyboards have become really popular, but along with that popularity has come a premium price. I’ve been testing the Epomaker TH108 Pro for the last month or so, and while it isn’t cheap, it offers impressive features at a price that matches its quality. Mechanical keyboards are no longer just for enthusiasts.

The TH108 Pro weighs over 1.1kg and feels substantial, not like a hollow piece of plastic that slides across your desk during intense gaming sessions. The thick ABS plastic chassis provides a sense of stability that is often missing from thinner, more portable models.

The layout is a 100% full-size design, which is a massive plus for anyone who still relies on a numpad for spreadsheet work or data entry.

The keycaps are made of double-shot PBT in a Cherry profile. In my testing, these felt quite premium and resisted that oily, shiny look that cheap ABS keycaps often develop after a few weeks of heavy use.

The most striking part of the design is the TFT smart display located near the top. It’s not just a small icon, but rather a functional screen that lets you monitor your battery level and check the time at a glance. There is also a multi-function knob right next to it. I found that being able to twist the knob to adjust volume or use it to navigate the screen settings was incredibly handy.

The 2-stage adjustable kickstand is quite helpful for finding a comfortable typing position. It offers three different angles, letting you tilt the keyboard to suit your specific desk setup and wrist posture.

The TH108 Pro features tri-mode connectivity, meaning you can switch between a wired USB-C connection, a 2.4 GHz wireless dongle, and Bluetooth 5.0. I used it on my desktop PC, my laptop, and even my tablet without needing to swap cables or re-pair devices constantly. For gaming, the 2.4GHz mode felt responsive, with no noticeable lag during my testing.

The 10,000mAh battery is massive, and I was able to use the keyboard wirelessly for several weeks without needing to reach for a charging cable. This is a huge benefit if you hate having a cluttered desk.

Using the Epomaker software, I was able to upload my own small GIFs to the TFT screen. I tested a few different animations, and seeing a custom moving image right on my keyboard added a nice personal touch to my setup.

After reviewing several Epomaker keyboards, I’ve got used to their web-based driver, which avoids the need to install software on your computer. It runs directly in your browser, and I found it very easy to remap keys, record macros, and tweak the RGB backlight or sensitivity. It works seamlessly across both Mac and Windows, meaning you can customise your settings regardless of which device you are using. This level of control makes it a very flexible tool for tailoring the keyboard to your specific gaming or professional needs.

The key switches are hot-swappable and support 5-pin switches. If you ever want to change the feel of your typing, you can pull out the existing switches and replace them with something else, with no soldering required.

It comes with a couple of spare switches, which I used to see how simple replacement could be, and it is incredibly easy. I also received a full set of replacement keycaps to test. While I really loved the style of the original keycaps, replacing the entire set is a slow process. However, the result is seriously cool, as you end up with a brand-new looking keyboard and a fresh aesthetic to boot.

The TH108 Pro uses a gasket-mount structure, which is paired with five different layers of sound-dampening material. This includes items such as IXPE switch pads and bottom silicone. The result of this is a very pleasing, muted sound profile. It does not have that hollow, metallic ping that many cheaper mechanical keyboards suffer from. Instead, it has a thocky sound that is very satisfying to type on. The flex-cut PCB and plate also add a slight amount of cushion, making the keys feel less harsh when you bottom out. That said, while quieter than a cheap mechanical keyboard, someone working beside you in an office will still hear your typing and might find it annoying.

The south-facing RGB lighting means the LEDs are positioned towards the bottom of the switch. It provides great visibility in low-light environments without being blindingly bright. While the plate-mounted stabilisers are a specific design choice that might not suit every enthusiast, I found them well-tuned enough to prevent most key wobbles on larger keys, such as the spacebar.

Verdict

If you want a substantial, feature-rich keyboard with a unique display and excellent typing experience, the TH108 Pro is a solid choice for both work and gaming enthusiasts.
