Meta Platforms will add fintech firm Stripe's CEO Patrick Collison and former Republican official Dina Powell McCormick to its board, effective April 15, the social media company said on Friday.

The Facebook parent said in a regulatory filing that it is increasing the size of its board to 15 members.

Mr Collison, who co-founded Stripe in 2010, was previously a member of the Meta Advisory Group, an external council established by the company to provide guidance on technology and product development.

Ms Powell McCormick, who spent 16 years in senior leadership roles at Goldman Sachs, has served as deputy national security adviser to US president Donald Trump during his first term.

She also held senior roles in the Bush administration, including as assistant secretary of state for Condoleezza Rice.

"Patrick is deeply committed to expanding economic opportunity, and Dina has a long career advocating for economic development and supporting entrepreneurs," CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.

The board additions follow major policy changes at Meta earlier this year, including the end of its US fact-checking program, the elevation of Republican Joel Kaplan as chief global affairs officer, and the closure of its diversity programs.

In January, Meta also added three new directors to its board, including Dana White, CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and a close ally of Donald Trump.

Meta’s board also includes Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, and Tony Xu, CEO of DoorDash.
