New RedMagic 9S Pro: A gaming beast with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and enhanced cooling

RedMagic has launched its latest powerhouse, the RedMagic 9S Pro, with a boosted processor and enhanced cooling system.
Unveiled in Shenzhen, China, on July 16, 2024, the RedMagic 9S Pro, dubbed "Unleash the Warrior Within," is the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor Leading Version. This processor is paired with UFS 4.0 and LPDDR5X, ensuring lightning-fast performance. Available in four sleek colours—Snowfall, Sleet, Cyclone, and Frost—the 9S Pro offers storage options of up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of memory, catering to gamers who demand both power and space.
A key highlight of the 9S Pro is its upgraded ICE 13.5 cooling system, including a new 11-layer cooling architecture, a new frost-cooling gel, and shark-fin blades. This architecture significantly improves heat dissipation and maintains optimal performance during intense gaming sessions. RedMagic claims the cooling system reduces CPU core temperatures by 19.5°C and enhances cooling efficiency by 20%.
The device’s 6.8-inch FHD+ display, utilising BOE Q9+ luminescent technology, offers a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio for an immersive gaming experience. The display ensures vibrant visuals, reduced eye strain with a resolution of 1116×2480, and advanced eye protection features like 2160 Hz PWM+DC dimming.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the RedMagic 9S Pro boasts a turbocharged CPU at 3.4GHz and a GPU frequency of 1GHz. According to RedMagic labs, the device achieved an impressive AnTuTu score of 23,669,542, setting a new standard for mobile performance. The processor’s efficiency gains lead to a 34% reduction in CPU power consumption and a 38% reduction in GPU power consumption, allowing for extended usage.
With a massive 6500mAh battery and 80W fast charging, the 9S Pro offers up to 56 hours of usage on a single charge. Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 technology ensures safe and efficient charging, preparing the device for prolonged gaming sessions.
The 9S Pro is designed with gamers in mind. It features 520Hz shoulder triggers, customisable RGB lighting, and a 2000Hz touch sampling rate with a 7.4ms response time. The device also supports wireless projection for PC with the Z-SmartCast feature, delivering up to 120 FPS for a seamless gaming experience.
RedMagic OS 9.5 introduces new gaming features, including Super Wallpaper for retro gaming, screen extraction for better visibility, and customisable display ratios. These additions enhance the gaming experience, making the 9S Pro a versatile choice for both casual and hardcore gamers.
The camera system on the 9S Pro includes a Samsung GN5 50MP primary lens with OIS and a Samsung JN1 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The dual 1115K speakers with DTS
ULTRA certification and a large sound cavity provide, which RedMagic says offers an immersive audio experience, complementing the high-quality visuals.
The RedMagic 9S Pro has four variants: Snowfall and Cyclone with 16GB RAM and 512GB memory, and Sleet and Frost with 12GB RAM and 256GB memory. Priced between €649 and €799, the device offers excellent value for its high-end features. The Frost variant will be released in mid-September.
