I’ve had to review a few smart locks, and the Securaki lock is one of the most straightforward to install as long as you have a compatible lock. The firm says it should work with 90% of door locks, but you should ensure it will work with yours before purchasing.
It features a detachable retrofit lock that fits over your existing lock from the inside, requiring no drilling or technical expertise. It comes with 3M back-to-back tape, which you stick to the door using the provided template. You then stick the provided metal mounting plate to the door, and you’re ready to place the smart lock inside your door.
The lock has several adapters to ensure it clamps around your existing mechanism.
Apart from the simple, almost toolless installation, the real beauty of the system is that you can continue to use your keys if you don't want or go completely keyless. This is great for those who live in a household with tech-savvy users and those who are allergic to technology.
The smart lock uses a relatively quiet motor, so it shouldn't wake anyone at night. How long it takes to work will depend on your lock, but on my double-lock door, the lock took around six seconds.
The Securaki Smart Lock integrates effortlessly with leading smart home platforms such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The lock supports Bluetooth and WiFi 2.4Ghz, but not Matter. While I can see the convenience of unlocking your front door with a voice command, I am not sure it’s a great idea from a security standpoint.
The app allows you to create unlimited user profiles, each with its activity log, ensuring comprehensive monitoring and control over access. You can create permanent, limited or single-use members. Limited members can be restricted to a period which can be repeated weekly. You can grant temporary access to guests or service providers, and you will receive an alert if the door is left unlocked, ensuring your property is always protected.
The app is intuitive and makes adding the whole family easy. It allows them to lock and unlock the door with their smartphone, keypad, or key fob, making lost or forgotten keys a thing of the past.
The app’s activity log allows the administrator to see who is home and who is not, while the unlimited user profile function allows monitored access to extended family members and temporary digital key holders.
The smart lock can streamline the guest check-in procedure for Airbnb and holiday homeowners by sending an invitation through the Securaki App. Guests can then arrive and go using the app for the duration of their visit.
Powered by 4x AA batteries (not included), the smart lock should work for up to six months based on approximately 10 daily uses. The batteries are quick, easy and inexpensive to replace. The keypad takes two AA batteries (not included), and the key fob uses a standard CR2032 (included).
The smart lock offers multiple access methods, including the Securaki app, a touchscreen digital keypad, and a Bluetooth fob. Of course, you can continue to use your key or manually twist the lock from the inside.
The keypad features a false input lockout, activated within the app, to thwart unauthorised attempts. Instant notifications for unauthorised access attempts provide added peace of mind.
I found the easiest method for unlocking and locking is using the fob. Simply press the single button once to lock and double-press to lock. You only get one fob in the bundle, but it’s worth getting more if you need them.
The security of a smart device that opens doors is critical, which is why Securaki's AES128 encryption is essential for maintaining data confidentiality and preventing unauthorised access.
Seeing no monthly subscription fees is encouraging since so many businesses are adopting subscription models. Securaki offers a UK-based support centre for any issues, with phone and email support available six days a week.

I love the key fob, which I kept on my keyring for quick and easy access, but the bundle also includes a convenient keypad and the option to use the app on your smartphone.
