Netflix plans to launch streaming plan with advertising

Plan will include four to five minutes of commercials per hour and offer a lower video quality than higher-priced tiers

Netflix does not have immediate plans to roll out the plan in Ireland.

Netflix will introduce an advertising-supported plan in certain countries next month charging £4.99 (€5.77) in the UK and $7 (€7.18) a month in the US for a subscription the company bets will entice new budget-conscious customers and jumpstart growth.

The lower-priced streaming package will debut in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, the UK and the US.
