Fantastic Beasts 2 scores Johnny Depp

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn't even out in cinemas yet but we've already been told that it's the first in a five film series, and now there's casting news coming down the pipeline.

The word is that none other than Johnny Depp will be in the sequel, which is set for release in 2018 and probably won't be called Fantastic Beasts 2. Deadline has the scoop and there's no word on who the star will be playing just yet.

There's even a possibility that we'll see Depp in character before then as he might have filmed a cameo in the first film to set up the future story. Whether he's on the side of good or bad, we'll have to wait and see.

Warner Bros is betting big on Fantastic Beasts, and that makes a lot of sense of a continuation of the massively successful Harry Potter franchise. You'll be able to see it in Irish cinemas on the 18th of November, 2016.
