Echo game has a creepy sci-fi setup

Echo is a new game from Ultra Ultra, a new indie developer based out of Denmark.

The set up puts your heroine (who sounds like Swedish actress Alicia Vikander) into a strange space called the Palace. After a century in stasis she ends up all alone, well apart from the terrifying clones.

Here's the new gameplay trailer to show you how it works.

That's genuinely creepy stuff, with the idea that you're probably going to spend a lot of time being killed by enemies who look just like you.

As for how the rest of it works, it sounds like it's going to be pretty complicated. If you only stealth around and kill enemies with your hands, then using your gun will come as a complete shock to them. But only the first time, as they'll learn and adapt so long as the lights are on.

It could be a really amazing mechanic so long as it works and gives meaninful feedback to the player, but otherwise the level design alone makes this well worth seeking out.

Echo will be out in early 2017.
