Facebook is to make it tougher for ad-blocking software to identify sponsored ads, meaning you’re going to see more of them in your News Feed very soon.

The company makes the majority of its revenue from advertising. Its financial results published in July highlighted that it made $6.2 billion in the last three months from advertising compared to $200 million from other revenue streams.

Facebook's vice president of ads and business platform, Andrew Bosworth, said that Facebook will make it harder for ad-blockers to work effectively on desktop. He added that ads can be helpful and useful, but noted that many ads don’t work in this way.
