New iPhone to get pressure-sensitive home button
Bloomberg reports that this new button won’t physically click, but will use haptic feedback technology instead. This has the added benefit of reducing the number of mechanical parts, which would in turn lead to a lower failure rate.
It’s also believed that the new home button could be better for preventing water and dust from getting into the innards of the device. The removal of the headphone jack, should this actually happen, will also improve the water-resistant properties of the device.
