Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in China this weekend, scoring a record $52.6m two-day opening.

Disney says that this is the largest Saturday/Sunday opening of all-time in the country, but it has also been pointed out that it’s the only film to have opened on a Saturday in China.

By comparison, some of 2015’s heavy-hitters, including Fast & Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Jurassic World managed quite commendable three-day tallies with $182.4m, $155.7m, and $99.1m taken respectively.
