Pinterest addicts can now buy products directly
The feature, which is great news from a convenience point of view, but potentially disastrous news for our bank balances, has been available on iOS since early this summer.
Beside the distinctive red “Pin It” button, you’ll see a price in blue text in the corner of a post, which indicates that the item can be bought. Click the post, tap "Buy It", enter your info (the first time you make a purchase), and you’ll be the proud owner of that item that caught your eye.
There are already more than 60 million buyable pins available and more are on the way.
Pinterest is also launching a Pinterest Shop. This will house seasonal collections of products selected by Pinterest staff from large retailers, such as Nordstroms and Bloomingdales, as well as smaller boutiques.
The Pinterest Shop will roll out to Android and iOS users in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, those buyable pins are being rolled out on Android right now.
