In a Reddit AMA with fans, Listo explained that the game didn’t sell as well as hoped and they "had to think of other ways to make sure we can continue creating content in the pace we want in order to keep PayDay 2 fresh and exciting."

Overkill partnered up with 505 Games and, as part of the deal, agreed to produce a certain amount of content until 2017. Listo added that the team wants to create more content than initially agreed upon.
