DICE details Star Wars Battlefront's Drop Zone

In the run up to the release of Star Wars Battlefront, DICE is continuing to outline game modes. The latest in the spotlight is Drop Zone.

This game mode will have players watching the skies. It pits teams of eight against one another to capture and control drop pods that fall through the atmosphere and land on the planet’s surface.

A team wins if it manages to capture five pods, or controls the majority of them after ten minutes elapse. DICE notes that if a particular pod is constantly changing possession with no team able to defend it long enough to claim it, another pod will be sent down to break the stalemate.

While these pods help a team march towards victory, they also contain Power Pickups. These can be valuable, but players will have to decide if they want to stick around until the pod opens or if they need to make their way to the next fallen pod.

Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall says that players will need to be mobile and able to think on their feet.

Star Wars Battlefront and its array of game modes will land on November 17th.
