Google Plus Photos shutting down on August 1st
The Android version of Google+ Photos will retire first, followed by the web and iOS options. Google says that the decision to close Google+ Photos is “to ensure everyone has the best photos experience we can deliver.”
Google Photos was unveiled in May. The app can automatically back up photos and videos stored on phones, tablets, computers, and memory cards. It can also keep them synced across devices through the main Google Drive cloud storage service.
The standalone app won’t need you to be signed up to the Google+ social network. It will give users unlimited storage of 16MP photos and 1080p videos for free, editing options and the ability to share photos or videos via links rather than through emails.
If you used Google+ Photos, you’ll find all of your photos, videos and albums on the new standalone app.
Google Photos is available on Android, iOS and the web.
