FIFA 16 promises better goalkeepers and defenders

Whenever you concede a goal in FIFA someone must be held accountable. That person is often the goalkeeper, as they’ve been prone to some moments of madness. FIFA 16 will change that, according to a new video from EA.

The video explores gameplay innovations across the pitch with lead gameplay producer Aaron McHardy talking us through the changes. He says that the team has “doubled down” on its efforts to improve goalkeeper fundamentals.

In defence, players will have new tackle animations and approaches, will cover off gaps and work to cut off passes, and will deal with quicker and skilled attackers better.

There are also changes in attack. Players will be able to pass with purpose and the crossing mechanic has been overhauled to deliver more threatening passes. McHardy says the whole package results in goals that will get you out of your seat.

FIFA 16 will be released this autumn on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
