The Witcher 3 may get a new game plus mode but it wont happen soon

Even some two months after launch there's still a lot going on in the world of The Witcher 3 - with a couple of DLC packs on the way and a massive 1.07 patch.

The Witcher 3 may get a new game plus mode but it wont happen soon

And that's not all. Ever since the game was released players have been clamouring for a New Game+ mode - basically a way to go back to the start of the game with your unlocked powers and maybe with a new difficulty level and other extras. Developers CD Project RED haven't had much to say on the mode, until now.

Community Manager TheEvilChris had this to say on the official forums:

"Absolutely. I am not saying there is NO possibility you will ever see New Game +. The dev team is aware it has been requested and they like to keep fans happy when possible. However, as you can see by patch 1.07, there are other things being worked on as well. There are still 2 free DLCs (after this week's Ciri alt costume), there are patches still being worked on and there is the Expansion Pass material being developed. It may happen, it may not happen, but there is definitely no word on it happening currently.

There was a lot of speculation that you would see NG+ in patch 1.07 and it didn't happen. Some were disappointed by this. I recommend you politely keep asking for it, but don't expect it. Then, if it should ever happen, you'll be happy. But if it doesn't happen for a while, you won't keep being disappointed."

That's pretty definitive, and typically straight talk from our new favourite developers and publishers. They're not side-stepping around the issue but telling it like it is - there's a lot in the works for The Witcher 3 and while they know players would like a new game plus mode they simply don't have any news to share right now. In the event that changes, we'll hear all about it and in the meantime keep up the communication and asking for what you want.

You have to love how transparent the entire process has been since the release of the game, meaning that even delays like the Ciri costume DLC don't cause much ire in gamers. Other bigger publishers could learn a lot from what CD Project RED has accomplished here.
