Most PCs won't get Windows 10 on day one

As Windows 10’s July 29th release date gets closer, Microsoft continues to muddy the waters. Initially, there was confusion over who would get to upgrade for free, but now even the release date is dependent on some factors.

Most PCs won't get Windows 10 on day one

Windows’ Terry Myerson revealed in a blog post that Windows 10 will start rolling out to Windows Insiders on July 29th. Then the OS will be released in waves to those planning to upgrade.

“We will start notifying reserved systems in waves, slowly scaling up after 29 July. Each day of the rollout, we will listen, learn and update the experience for all Windows 10 users."

It is possible to reserve your Windows 10 upgrade. But all this does is confirm your place in a queue. When you’ll actually be able to download Windows 10 is yet to be seen.

At least if you are kept waiting for your upgrade, any initial quirks or bugs may be ironed out by the time you get it.
